The passing of time catalyses changes in the individual identity, constantly shaped by that of the identities around them. For me, the many amazing people in my life have each played a role in the shaping of who I am today. These people are the focus of my work, ‘Emerging Identity’. Each having their own personal growth from childhood to present day. In my work I’ve captured their physical change. The eyes, smile and expression behind the people who have made an impression on me. I have captured this in the fine detail of the faces which fade out into the paper through line and shade. The white space in-between the portraits is symbolic of the parts of change that cannot be physically seen.
