This work was originally inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, which works off of the ideas of value in imperfection and incompleteness. The aesthetics of kintsugi have always inspired me, but the ideas behind it that I found through research are what inspired this work and the concept behind it. Although I started with the media I wanted to use, I managed to use this media to finally express somethings I have been working on throughout my personal and social life. I have had some problems making friends in the past, and most of that was due to some bad past experiences. Working past this a little helped me make some new friends, each who had problems of their own. But by working with one another to work on ourselves we all pulled ourselves back together. So I was broken, but my breaks are now fixed with gold, and I have everyone around me to thank.
